An Fio Calculus for Marine Seismic Imaging: Folds and Cross Caps

چکیده
We are interested in a linearized inverse scattering problem considered by Symes and Nolan [10] for the marine data acquisition geometry. This arises as follows: a vessel carries an acoustic source (airgun) and recording instruments (hydrophones). The airgun sends acoustic waves through the ocean to the subsurface and the reflections occur when the sound waves encounter singularities in the material of the subsurface. The reflected rays are received by hydrophones towed behind the vessel. The vessel makes repeated passes along parallel paths. The pressure field at the surface is used to reconstruct an image of the subsurface. Our eventual goal is to invert the Fourier integral operator F , the linearized operator which maps singularities in the sound speed in the subsurface to the singularities in the resulting pressure field at the surface. Standard techniques tell us to consider the normal operator F ∗ ◦ F .

An Fio Calculus for Marine Seismic Imaging, Ii: Sobolev Estimates
We establish sharp L2-Sobolev estimates for classes of pseudodifferential operators with singular symbols [27, 20] whose non-pseudodifferential (Fourier integral operator) parts exhibit two-sided fold singularities. The operators considered include both singular integral operators along curves in R2 with simple inflection points and normal operators arising in linearized seismic imaging in the ...

Oil and Gas offshore pipelines, often pass through large geographical areas, from the supply point to the end-user, crossing seismic-active areas. For unburied pipelines, both seismic ground wave and permanent ground deformation can cause severe damage to pipelines, depending on the pipeline geometry and connected structures. Due to the largely non-linear nature of the problem, a finite element...
متن کاملStereographic imaging condition for wave-equation migration
Single-scattering imaging consists of two steps: wavefield extrapolation, whose goal is to reconstruct source and receiver wavefields from recorded data, and an imaging, whose goal is to extract from the extrapolated wavefields the locations where reflectors occur. Conventionally, the imaging condition indicates the presence of reflectors when the propagation time of reflections in the source a...
متن کاملSimple Pile-Soil Interaction Effect on Seismic Response of Fixed Offshore Platforms
In this paper effect of pile-soil consideration in obtaining seismic response offshore structure is assessed due to earthquake loading. InducedSeismic force is one of the most important excitations for the dynamic response of an offshore structure. According to API, Seismic forces should be accounted in platform design for seismically active regions in order to determine the allowable seismic r...

S U M M A R Y Seismic interferometry is now widely used to retrieve the impulse response function of the Earth between two distant seismometers. The phase information has been the focus of most passive imaging studies, as conventional seismic tomography uses traveltime measurements. The amplitude information, however, is harder to interpret because it strongly depends on the distribution of amb...
